Launch of Every Breath campaign
Mon 22nd August 2016
0Fresh, the region’s tobacco control office which regularly attends and updates the regionwide CCG Chairs network, has launched its latest quit smoking campaign to raise awareness that smoking is the main cause of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
The Every Breath campaign is supported by the British Lung Foundation and will be running for five weeks across TV, radio and online advertising. Fresh has also issued a press release highlighting that over 93,000 people in the North East are estimated to have COPD and that at least 25% of smokers are likely to develop clinically significant COPD.
The campaign resulted in record quitting rates in North East stop smoking services when it last ran in 2011-12 and a briefing was circulated in July.
