NHS maternity care providers are asking parents who’ve recently had a baby in Sunderland over the last year and people who are planning to have a baby at Sunderland Royal Hospital in the future to share their views on local maternity care.
Sunderland Maternity Voices, a partnership between families, healthcare providers NHS Sunderland Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and midwives at City Hospitals Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust, are inviting women and families to attend a relaxed get-together to share their experiences and what’s important to them about local maternity services.
The family engagement event will take place on Saturday 29th September, 11am – 1pm at Bede Tower, Burdon Road, Sunderland, SR2 7DZ.
The event will focus on what’s important to local people about the maternity care they and their family receive and how the Sunderland Maternity Voices partnership can make improvements, and to find out the reasons they choose where to have their baby.
Also on offer at the event are a free healthy lunch for women and their families, free crèche facilities (subject to availability and pre-registration), wi-fi access and raffle prizes.
Sheila Ford, Head of Midwifery at City Hospitals Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust and a member of the Sunderland Maternity Voices Partnership, said: “This is a great opportunity to engage with women and families, take people’s views and experiences of local maternity care and, learn from them.”
Scott Watson, Director Lead for the project at Sunderland CCG, said: “If you live in the area and have used maternity services provided by Sunderland Royal Hospital, we would like to hear from you. It is important that we listen to your views as this will help us understand how you feel about local maternity care options and ensure you can help us make decisions on how these services could be improved.”
